Cancellation Policy

Understanding the cancellation policy and how it affects your account standing.

Flexibility is at the heart of KOVR, but reliability is what makes the platform work. Our cancellation policy is designed to protect both workers and employers while providing a fair framework for when plans change.

Cancelling a Shift

If you can no longer work a shift you've been approved for, you must cancel it in the app as early as possible.

How to Cancel:

  1. Go to your **Schedule** tab.
  2. Tap on the shift you wish to cancel.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Cancel Shift.
  4. Select the reason for your cancellation.

Cancellation Timeframes

The impact of a cancellation depends on how much notice you give:

  • More than 24 hours notice – No penalty, but it is recorded on your internal reliability score.
  • Less than 24 hours notice – Significant impact on your reliability score and a "Late Cancellation" badge on your profile for 30 days.
  • Less than 2 hours notice / No-Show – Highest impact. May lead to immediate account suspension or permanent ban.
Important: Multiple cancellations within a short period, even with notice, will reduce your chances of being approved for future shifts.

The Reliability Score

KOVR tracks a "Reliability Score" for every worker. This score is based on:

  • Shifts completed as scheduled.
  • Cancellations (and how far in advance they occurred).
  • Punctuality (being on time for shifts).

Workers with high reliability scores (95%+) are automatically highlighted to employers as "Top Tier" workers.

Exceptions (Excused Cancellations)

We understand that emergencies happen. You may be eligible for an "excused" cancellation if you provide documentation for:

  • Medical emergencies or illness.
  • Family emergencies.
  • Transportation failures (e.g., major flight delays, car accidents).

To request an excused cancellation after you've cancelled in-app, pleasecontact support with your documentation within 48 hours.

Shift Giveaways

Instead of cancelling, we recommend trying a Shift Giveaway. This allows another qualified worker to take your spot. If someone picks up your shift, it does not count as a cancellation for you! See ourShift Giveaway guide for details.

Employer-Led Cancellations

If an employer cancels a shift you've been approved for:

  • More than 24 hours notice – No payment, but the shift is removed from your schedule.
  • Between 2 and 24 hours notice – You will receive a 2-hour "booking fee" payment.
  • Less than 2 hours notice – You will receive 50% of the scheduled shift's estimated total.
